A small creative practice that fits a busy week

Start with twenty focused minutes, a single question and an achievable finish. A useful practice grows through returning to the work, rather than waiting for a perfect afternoon.

Choose one question for the week

A manageable creative practice begins with a specific curiosity. You might ask how three tones change the feeling of a drawing, or how a familiar object looks from a lower viewpoint. Keep the question small enough to test in twenty minutes. This gives the session a purpose without turning it into an exam.

Make the setup easy to repeat

Leave a sketchbook, two drawing tools and a simple subject together in one place. Decide when the session will finish before you begin. On a busy day, making three quick studies is more useful than spending the whole window arranging materials. Repetition builds familiarity with the process, even when the result feels uneven.

Keep the evidence, including the awkward work

Date each study and add one sentence about what you noticed. At the end of the week, place the pages together and look for a choice you want to explore again. Do not keep only the polished version: the changes between attempts often show the most useful learning.
